Originally launched in 2003, the Lamborghini Gallardo Coupé 2006 model year benefits from increased engine power of 520 hp and lower ratio gears, reaching a top speed of 196mph and accelerating from 0 to 62mph in 4.0 seconds.
Using aluminium space frame technology developed by parent company Audi, the ‘dry' weight of the car is just 1430kg despite its permanent four-wheel drive. The engine is mid-rear mounted, with particular attention paid to achieving correct weight distribution: 42% front, 58% rear.
The Gallardo is undoubtedly a Lamborghini, whilst asserting its individuality: designed with an evident purism, athleticism and sharpness, its long wheelbase with short overhangs gives it its dynamic appearance. Gallardo, in Lamborghini tradition, takes its name from a breed of fighting bulls: the 18th century Gallardo stock were famous for their aggressive beauty and performance.
